Brown Bears
Multimedia: Shambling giants

Furry behemoths that look very slow.

The bear hibernates in winter, but it wakes up several times. It loses a lot of weight during hibernation, so no wonder he feels extremely hungry when waking up in the spring.

A female bear produces 1-3 cubs. Newborn bear cubs are rather helpless: they are born naked, blind, deaf, and have no sense of smell. When protecting their cubs, female bears can be really aggressive!

Bears hibernate for the winter in their dens. Cubs are born here, protected in the hollows of giant trees or between the roots, in the shelter of trees uprooted by the wind, in rock crevices or caves.
